Earlier this month, our very own Gabriel De Oleo attended the inaugural Financial Inclusion for Scotland event! We had a magnificent line-up of panellists and speakers masterfully coordinated Social Investment Scotland FIFS, such as Deputy First Minister of Scotland John Swinney MSP and industry-greats like Nicola Anderson from FinTech Scotland and Niall Alexander from Fair4All Finance.
What did we learn?
It’s always easy to complain about the lack of collaboration between public and private sector. But from this event we could see very clearly not just the exciting initiatives but also the visible willingness and support from both governmental bodies and businesses like yours truly to reduce the friction within several areas that separate us from offering true financial inclusion.
Discussions like those at Financial Inclusion for Scotland must be held more widely to help decision-makers stay in touch with their electorate. In order to have sustainable lives, we also need sustainable finance. No one should live in poverty and getting unbureaucratic, reliable help from everyone involved should not be as hard as it currently is.
Thank you once again to the organisers for an outstanding event!
